Core purpose of the role:

The main purpose of the role is to assist with all aspects of running a successful stores department.

  1. Location: Dwaalboom
  2. Position: Storeman
  3. Business Unit: Transport – Fleet
  4. Reporting to: Workshop Foreman
  5. Closing date: 31 March 2019

    Key deliverables and outputs:

    1. Receive stock in line with company policies and procedures.
    2. Order stock in line with company policies and procedures.
    3. Source stock according to best possible price and quality.
    4. Provide feedback on workshop related queries in a fast and efficient manner.
    5. Conduct monthly and annual stock counts and resolve queries and discrepancies.
    6. Pick and issue stock in line with company policy and procedures
    7. Create stock requisitions and orders
    8. Capture data on a real-time basis on the relevant company IT system.
    9. Optimise parts’ stock holding according to company standards.
    10. Order stock from suppliers.
    11. Balance stock on a monthly basis.
    12. Maintain the stores environment according to company standards.
    13. Manage occupational risk including behaviour and compliance.
    14. Assist with ad-hoc tasks where required.

    1. Suppliers
    2. OEMs

    Academic qualifications


    1. Matric/ Grade 12


    1. Driver’s license
    2. Must be prepared to work long hours and weekends when operational requirements dictate

    Work experience


    1. 3+ years of experience in a similar role within a heavy transport workshop environment



    1. Knowledge of relevant transport legislation



    1. Fluent in written and spoken English
    2. Advanced administrative and organisational skills
    3. Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
    4. The ability to work in a highly pressurised environment
