Core purpose of the role:

The core purpose of the role is to unlock value through continuously improving value propositions, costing solutions and profit analysis, and to assist in business development for the group.

  2. Position: Senior Manager II (Commercial)
  3. Business Unit: Transport
  4. Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
  5. Closing date: 31 March 2019

    Key deliverables and outputs

    1. Strategy
      1. Supporting and providing input into the compilation of the BWT Strategy.
    2. Business development
      1. Commercialisation of various tools (Academy, Fleet, RTMS/PBS)
      2. Formulating business development plans to grow the business, ensuring sustainable business performance.
    3. Financial management
      1. Maintenance and development of BWT costing model
      2. Maintenance of contracts register
    4. Customer centricity
      1. Approval of new rate structure proposals exceeding a certain threshold.
      2. Assist business units with under-performing contracts
      3. Monitor new contracts to ensure targets are reached (plan and cost alignment
      4. Assist with driver rem calculations for variable pay structures
      5. Assist with all rate adjustments
    5. Risk, Ethics and Compliance
      1. Manage ethics, risk, governance and SHEQ in line with legislation, company policies & procedures and relevant regulations and Barloworld standards
    6. SHEQ
      1. Drive all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures to create a safe workplace for all and meet legislative requirements.
    7. Talent Management and employee performance
      1. Direct and control workforce planning of the business unit by supporting an effective talent strategy.
      2. Drive a climate and culture of high performance and employee engagement, in line with Barloworld’s employee value proposition. Manage, develop and coach own team.
    8. Transformation
      1. Promote and direct the implementation of Barloworld Logistics’ transformation and sustainability policy and strategy in all aspects of diversity and inclusion, supplier development and community involvement.

    1. Clients

    Academic qualifications

    Essential:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in finance/management/logistics

    Note:

    1. Drivers licence.
    2. Valid Passport

    Work experience

    Essential:

    1. 5 years in a business/commercial environment
    2. Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen

    Knowledge

    Essential:

    1. Financial and business acumen

    Advantageous:

    1. General business management
    2. Knowledge of transport industry

    1. Highly developed communication skills to persuade,
