Core purpose of the role:

The Core Purpose of the role is to plan the area of responsibility in a cost effective way in order to achieve the highest possible level of customer service at the lowest possible cost by following planning disciplines at all times and ensure effective flow of information through to the financial system. To do all reporting in a professional manner and on time to allow effective and quick decision making.

  2. Position: Database Administrator II
  3. Business Unit: Supply Chain Management
  4. Reporting to: Manager: Operations
  5. Closing date: 31 March 2019

    Key deliverables and outputs

    1. System Administration
      1. Systems Administration and Maintenance of OTM, MMS and BI
      2. Responsible for loading of rate changes/adjustments as and when required
      3. Update and correct master data timeously as per update request document.
      4. Responsible to check and clear system control reports.
      5. Manage system status, i.e. traffic controllers/services for month end processing.
      6. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of systems data
      7. Assist administration and planning department with queries
      8. Produce TMS performance reports, daily, weekly and monthly
    2. Support Planning
      1. Strategic data forecast (S&OP)
      2. Supporting the transport network
    3. Continuous Improvements
      1. Drive a continuous improvement culture
      2. Effective utilisation of information systems
      3. interpretation of data and translating into solutions
    4. Customer Relations
      1. Ensure customer requirements are met
      2. Effectively facilitating customer expectations

    Internal customers:

    1. Managers and employees in the business unit

    External customers:

    1. Service Providers
    2. Customer

    Academic qualifications


    1. Degree/diploma in Transport/Logistics/Supply Chain Management


    1. Technical qualification
    2. Visual charting
    3. Driver’s License

    Work experience


    1. 3-5 Years planning in system administration in a transport management system i.e. OTM, Manugustics
    2. Engaging and presenting at all management levels


    1. Proven track record of Lean implementation



    1. Basic financial and business acumen
    2. Lean methodology
    3. TMS



    1. Highly developed communication skills, including presentation at all levels
    2. Written analysis skills

    4. Well-developed interpersonal skills
